Fritz Stahl was active as a publicist, art critic and journalist who worked under the pseudonym Fritz Stahl. His real name was Siegfried Lilienthal. On the 7th of July 1899, Stahl published an article on Benin art in the Berliner Tageblatt. In 1903, he sold the head of a bronze Ikpin (Snake Figure) from the Kingdom of Benin to the Hamburg Museum für Völkerkunde.
