Ako-Ọpia
Ako-Ọpia
Description

Ako-Ọpia (sheaths) are covers made from leather or other materials. They would be used to house or protect any kind of bladed weapon, such as Idẹnrhẹn, Umozo or Ọhọ. A number of these are heavily ornamented and cast in brass, and would probably have had a ceremonial rather than practical function. A smaller number are made from coral beads.
