Prof. Victor Osaro Edo

Prof. Victor Osaro Edo is professor of African history in the Department of History at the University of Ibdan. He participated in the peer review of the content presented in Itan Edo and the historical content linked to the map.

He is a specialist in Benin studies as well as political and cultural history and has published many articles in books and journals nationally and internationally. His works include African Culture and Civilisation, co-authored with Oguntomisin (2005); African Culture and Civilisation from Earliest Times to 1500 AD, also co-authored with Oguntomisin (2007); and Nigeria at 50: Politics, Society and Development, co-edited with B. Sofela and R. O. Olaniyi (2013). He is a member of the Historical Society of Nigeria (HSN) and the Nigeria Academy of Letters. From 2012 to 2014 Edo was the head of the Department of History at the University of Ibadan. Currently he is the assistant dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ibadan.
