Osun staff (part of) made of iron. Upper part of staff; cylindrical section shaft with iron coils wrapped around at intervals, figure of chameleon in sheet metal at one side. Surmounted by further chameleon figure. Shaft has L-shaped bend at lower end.
Staffs such as this, called 'osun emotan', are associated with the Osun cult whic draws on the medicinal power of wild herbs and leaves. They also incorporate the power of Ogun, the god of iron in their material form.
