Figure, court attendant; lost-wax cast in brass. Standing male figure, naked apart from coral bead anklets, bracelets, waist beads, necklace and deep beaded collar. Figure has elaborate crested hairstyle and wears beaded udaeba headband. Three scarification marks above each eye and further scarification marks on central torso. Carries eben sword upright in right hand and spear in left hand. Stands on square base decorated with interlinked loop patterns.
Figures of this type, although of smaller scale, occur frequently in Benin court art. They are portrayed in both ivory and brass as free-standing figures as well as on brass altars.
