William Fagg gave Dr. John Patrick Howe attribution (see John W Picton letter in SI Archives ) Philip Dark dated to no earlier than mid-1800's but indeed post-1800. Exhibited at Anacostia Neighborhood Museum, "Out of Africa" 2/79-12/80. Cataloged by Louise D. Hutchinson. Ill p.87. Description; cast brass sculpture of 6 figures on rectangular hollow base . Edges decorated with raised scroll & braid patterns. Depicts in foreground row of 2 heads & split oval shape, 2 small figures carrying guns & unidentified weapons flanking larger center figure of captive, kneeling, half-naked, & handcuffed. Also has rope around waist attached to chain carried by male figure standing behind. Other capturers in background flank a small nude female figure.
