The spoon is part of the original contents of the Gustavus Adolphus Art Cabinet (procured by Philipp Hainhofer in Augsburg 1626–1631). The cabinet and its contents was donated by the city of Augsburg to the Swedish king Gustavus Adolphus in 1632, and was the private property of the Swedish Royal Family until it was bequeathed to Uppsala university in 1694.
