Plaques depicting various scenes from the everyday and court life of Benin, among whose characters were warriors, nobles, cult animals, covered the columns of the galleries of the palaces of the rulers and sacred Benin kings. The nobleman holds in his hands a ritual sacred sword, with which the ruler is greeted in festive ceremonies.
