The Benin warrior (esamo) is presented in full military attire: a combat helmet on his head, a shield in his left hand, and a spear in his right hand. The protective equipment of a warrior also includes a shell made from the skin of a panther, which was one of the symbols of power in Benin, or a large piece of leather. The relief is embedded in a wooden board.
