Landon, Frederick William Bainbridge (1860 - 1937)
Description

Frederick William Bainbridge Landon was educated at Oxford and Sandhurst (Home, 1982, 128 [126]). He joined the Army Service Corps in 1884. He was second-in-command and supply and transport officer during the British Military Campaign on Benin, 1897. He also fought in the South African War (1899–1902) and the First World War (1914–18). From 1921 to 1930, he was colonel commandant of the Royal Army Service Corps (British Museum website[282]). He was awarded the Ashantee Medal with the Benin 1897 clasp for his service in the colonial expedition (Hicks, 2021, 21[119]).
